Referendum
On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, voting on the referendum for
ISD 318 operating and capital levy will occur. There is too much
information about the referendum to print in this newsletter;
therefore the website links below to the School District website are
provided for voters to read in order to make an educated decision
on how to vote. If you are not able to access the website, you can
call the School District at 218-327-5704 for information.
For detailed information about the referendum, the three questions
you will be voting on, and how it will impact the school district and
your property taxes, go to the ISD 318 referendum website at
www.weare318.org.
There are three referendum questions on the ballot. To determine
how approval of one or more of the questions will impact your
property taxes, use the online Tax Calculator at www.ehlers-inc.com/microsite/isd3182023/. You will need to know your
property’s estimated market value (EMV). You can find your EMV
value on the Itasca County 2023 Valuation Notice for Taxes Payable
in 2024. These notices were mailed to property owners in March of 2023
If you have misplaced your notice, you can call Itasca County
Assessor’s office at 218-327-2861 for your property value.
Approval of the ballot questions would result in a property tax
increase beginning with taxes payable in 2024 and would be
applicable for seven years.
WHERE TO VOTE: For this election, polling places are
consolidated; therefore on November 7, Wabana residents will
vote at the Grand Rapids Library, 140 NE 2nd Street. Voting hours
are 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The ice cream social is tomorrow, Friday, August 11 from 6:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m. at the Wabana Town Hall.
There will be ice cream with toppings and neighborhood friends.
There is no charge for the ice cream.
Come back Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. for the WCOLA annual meeting.
Hope you can join us.
Saturday, July 22 & Sunday, July 23, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Wabana Township, in conjunction with Itasca County, will once again be offering the Fight Blight project. This will be occurring on Saturday July, 22nd and Sunday July, 23rd from 8:00 am through 4:00 pm on both days.
There will be two primary changes from last year’s event. The County has said they will NOT be accepting any tires or electronics with a screen. Electronics include such items as TV’s, computers, monitors, and laptops. Basically, anything with a screen. These type of items can be brought up to the County Landfill in Cohasset, but there will be a charge for these items. A complete list of acceptable and not acceptable items is provided below.
If you have any questions about this event, please contact Lloyd Adams at (218) 259-1987.
